Local food is food that has travelled only a few miles from where it was grown or raised to your plate.

Food miles is the distance that food covers in its trek from field to plate and is a way of showing the environmental impact of the food we eat.


During a lifetime an average person eats 35 tonnes of food.

Wrexham County Borough is wonderfully rich and diverse area with an abundance of mouth watering local food and drink. From the Ceiriog Valley to the Borderlands you can find a whole array of mouth watering produce………tender lamb, fresh trout, farmhouse ice cream, juicy blueberries, brilliant breweries, divine chocolates, award winning sausages and deep filled pies. Its all on your doorstep……explore and let your taste buds run wild!

  • Develop local food outlets.
  • Educate communities in relation to the food cycle – “How does food get to your table?”.
  • Develop new networks and distribution techniques with producers and outlets.
  • Increase use and sourcing of local food.
  • Engage with children and schools by creating interactive toolkits.
